A great cultural program during the Championships
The 2017 UCI Road World Championships will be even more than a major sporting event. During the Championships, the audience will be able enjoy a broad variety of culture in the whole region.
The cultural events will be lined up during the 2017 UCI Road World Championships. The cyclists will be our focus, but as a bonus, our local artists and musicians will contribute to make this event a fantastic experience for the spectators.
- We want to show our guests the outstanding quality and the broad variety of the culture life in the region, say Øyvind Storheim and Sølvi Ones, who are in charge of the cultural production during the event on behalf of the local organizing committee, Bergen 2017. Most of the cultural program will be free of charge, and open for all.
Torgallmenningen in the heart of Bergen will be the location for the medal ceremonies. Right afterwards the audience can enjoy free various concerts every night from folk music, classical goodies, to rock&roll and pop music.
You can enjoy the City of Culture other places than Torgallmenningen during the event. All around the city centre, there will be pop up events, mini concerts and even a cycling symphony! While the spectators are waiting for the cyclists, be prepared for parades and entertainment.
Go on a guided tour around “Store Lungegårdsvann” and experience the sculptures. Visit some of Bergen’s art exhibitions at KODE, which will be open several nights during the event. Outside the city centre, at Edvard Griegs home Troldhaugen, there will be daily concerts. Also Bymuseet i Bergen will celebrate the 2017 UCI Road World Championships with special exhibitions at Bryggen museum and at the Rosenkrantz Tower.
