Partners and collaborators
Several contracts have been signed recently, and many are taking ownership to the event. We are grateful for their support. This is a work in progress, and we are continuing our efforts to find more sponsors.
We are working together with two of the major cultural producers in Bergen. They will make sure that the cyclists, our visitors, and the locals will experience festivities and Norwegian enthusiasm surrounding the event.
1350 people from near and far have already registered as voluteers. We are excited to offer our travelling volunteers accommodations free of charge, within a short distance from the event! Fantoft will be our volunteer campus. The student welfare organization already has a big community of International students living there, and hope to engage them to make the volunteers feel welcome.
Public health campaign
April 17th we launch a National public health campaign to inspire Norwegians to use their bikes more frequently. The Campaign has received public fundings and is a collaboration between Bergen 2017, the Institute of Transport Economics and TV2. The campaign will be a free web application, simular to the popular Pokemon Go, where the user will receive prizes when reaching certain GPS-coordinates.
Schools and nursery schools
Schools and nursery scools in Bergen are now preparing for the event with an educational program, focusing on several aspects of cycling. One of the key benefits and long term effects of hosting the UCI Road World Championships in Bergen is to promote cycling. Not only as a great sport, but as a means of transportation and daily activity.
